What are Unique Visitors

For any company conducting digital marketing, one of the best forms to measure their market is to know who visits their website and, if possible, how many times.

Well, Unique Visitors refers to the person that has visited the website once or more during a given period of time. “The number of unique visitors to the website may dictate its general success and can increase via SEO and other marketing procedures.”

The visit of our users can indicate different behaviors of each of them, that is, if someone visits my page often, that means they are very interested in a particular product; then, I could use this information to identify their interests and how to persuade them with my content for them to finally complete the purchase.

Unique visitor does not equal the number of visits

We should say we are not talking about the number of visits to a web page, but of each visitor. To clarify, we will use the omniconvert.com example where they explain that “For example, if a user visits a web page and then navigates other 2 pages, they leave their website and returns to view more pages, that user is counted as an individual user (“unique visitor”). This metric is different to the number of visits, which shows how many times pages are visited, regardless of the number of visitors to the website”.

Is the number of times the visitor enters the web important?

We should bear in mind that the visitor is counted once only, no matter how many times they enter the site, and, although it is a metric to know how interested the customer is in my brand, when we discuss the term Unique Visitors, we are counting that visitor only once during the analysis period.

There are different platforms that allow us to identify which are these unique visitors, in addition to be sure they are real people and not robots, since robots do not count. Unique visitors are measured as per their IP addresses, which are like online digital fingerprints.
