Webinars – interaction from anywhere with anyone

Escrito el por Brenda Trejo

Webinars, or web seminars, are nothing new. However, there’s no doubt that they’ve become a very important tool for many companies at the start of the pandemic when lockdowns were happening around the world. There are many reasons to host a webinar, whether it be educational or commercial, for generating leads or looking for a larger audience that can be in any part of the world. Webinars and marketing go hand in hand. But what is a webinar?

What is a webinar and what does it entail?

What’s certain is that you’ve probably already participated in some. The definition of a webinar is the following: a presentation, conference, workshop, training session, etc, that is done online where the participating audience can ask questions and make comments.

Throughout a webinar, the speaker, the organisation or the company will often interact with the public on the platform they’re using, in real time, over chat or email. It’s unlike a webcast, which is pre-recorded. A webinar normally generates more leads, that being its main end goal.

Webinar features as a marketing tool

All the features of a webinar turn it into a perfect marketing tool. How? Well, first off, let’s consider its main goal as educating and involving the audience; an audience which can include current and new clients, as well as industry colleagues or students.

Therefore, it becomes an ideal space for your audience to get to know your company or product better, and at the same time have the opportunity to ask questions or learn additional information. Moreover, webinars generate high quality leads – something that can be measured by means of lead scoring – as they are directly interested in finding out about the subject you have dealt with.

As a result, an online webinar becomes an excellent tool for lead generation, as it can cover a wide range of specific topics. How do you do it, then? By making the most of real time interactions and the different features in a webinar to add more value to your content. Perhaps you can demonstrate your product in use and describe its benefits, you can help your audience with any doubts they have, offering solutions so that they not only become clients, but also avid fans of your product. All this without even having to give a promotion!

What are the features of a Webinar?

There are many features in a webinar, but the main one is that it’s done in real time, and that audience interaction is direct and responsive. The sessions should be informative, making it clear that the audience can learn something throughout the session.

The main goal of a webinar is to capture leads, as doing some marketing for the brand is needed, mainly towards the end of the session.

Webinars and marketing are coming closer and closer together. It’s not only good for capturing leads, but also to increase the amount of web traffic or to do some networking. It’s used a lot for conversion funnels.

Another feature is that in a webinar, you can share all kinds of content: PowerPoints, videos, webpages, and other multimedia content with an audience from all over the world. Furthermore, this event can be recorded and shared with many others that may be interested, so that the material can continue reaping benefits long after the live presentation took place.

So… what’s so great about a webinar?

As we said, one of the main advantages is that it’s an online event, there’s no need to worry about hiring a physical space, thinking about logistics and event organising, transport, staff etc. You can save money on the budget that would otherwise be spent on hosting an in-person event. It’s comfortable for the speakers as well as for the attendees, who can watch or present from the comfort of their own homes, offices or from anywhere they want.

Another advantage is that, thanks to all its features, collaborations with other companies are possible. This means that you have access to a new audience, an audience that maybe has never heard of your product or service.
